  • Abstract
In the current RFID (radio frequency identification) middleware systems including those based on the EPCglobal standard, the tag data received by the readers are processed sequentially in FIFO (first in first out) order. If we give different priorities to the readers in processing the tag data from the readers, a more flexible service policy can be realized and the data processing throughput can be increased in the service environment where important tag data with high urgency are received by some readers or too many data are concentrated on some readers. In this paper, we propose a new RFID middleware system architecture supporting priority service with the buffer management component. Our proposals are compliant with the EPCglobal ALE (application level events) standard interface for middleware systems and their clients. Also we carry out simulation for comparing our proposed system with the existing system by ARENA 10.0.
