Abstract :
In this paper, we derive generalized mean acquisition time (MAT) expressions for look and jump by K bins (LJK) and bit reversal (BR) search strategies, used in ultra wideband (UWB) systems. In E.A. Homier and R.A. Scholtz (2002), MAT expressions of LJK and BR searches were presented; however, the expressions are valid only when N/K is an integer, where N is the total number of search states. In this paper, we introduce generalized expressions for MATs of LJK and BR searches, which are valid regardless whether N/K is an integer or not.
