Abstract :
Emerging ubiquitous computing network is expected to consist of a variety of heterogeneous and distributed devices. Web services technologies that support platform independent application integration cope with limitation of legacy middleware technologies based on distributed object. Therefore it could be software infrastructure for ubiquitous computing with other Web technologies. In this paper, we introduce a basic concept of WS-ECA framework (event-condition-action for Web services) in order to show the coordination mechanism with Web services technology among service-oriented, heterogeneous devices in ubiquitous computing environment. WS-ECA rules for individual devices may have service discrepancies with each other or cause undesirable situations when they are executed concurrently. Therefore, we propose conflict detection and resolution methods for distributed ECA rule processing in order to prevent the various kinds of abnormal situations.
