Abstract :
Traditionally the attribute and priority of connection request is known ahead before the request is issued. Once the priority is determined, it will not be changed during the connection period, and the granularity of optical channels are fixed under given traffic loads in the network. In this paper we consider a new traffic type called protection on demand (POD). The survivable routing and wavelength assignment procedure for such traffic type is proposed and the performance of the proposed method is verified by conducted simulations.
