  • Abstract
This paper proposes the hierarchical fair bandwidth allocation algorithm to optimize transmission efficiency in wavelength division multiplexed and time division multiplexed hybrid passive optical networks (PONs). A hybrid POS makes a combination of two combined multiplexing: time division multiplexing (TDM) and wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). The proposed algorithm considers traffic load distribution, service weight value, wavelength conversion delay and round trip time to make wavelength and timeslot resource to be used fairly and efficiently in hybrid PONs.
