Abstract
From 20 July 2007 new requirements apply to new and existing fixed installations that are modified in a way that affect their EMC performance. Fixed installations must be installed applying good engineering practices which must be documented and retained by a "responsible person" for the fixed installation. In addition the responsible person must have a level of competence to be able to determine that the configuration of the installation complies with the essential requirements. This paper describes an approach to determining compliance that we have used successfully on many projects, using gap analysis and hazard identification techniques, which can be applied by the responsible person to his assessment of fixed installations.
