  • Abstract
In this paper we have developed a statistical study to approximate the value of the two most accepted parameters as main temporal factors within the consolidation process. A comparative study about the time elapsed between the first and the second rehearsals when memorising a list of irregular verbs has been researched, to reach the goal of estimating the optimum value for this parameter, as well as, the performance of sleeping time effect. The cognitive model of the memory has been formally specified and studied by timed-arc Petri nets, therefore the time parameters labelling the transitions which connect the S(hort) T(erm) M(emory) place with either the L(ong) T(erm) M(emory) or the losing places become really important. Moreover, opposite the original specification where this parameter only depends on the time between two consecutive rehearsals, the sleeping time arises as another important fact for optimizing the consolidation process. A value for this parameter is finally provided, and this allows to better determine the formal model for the memorization process and, helped with the feature of enabling, disabling and killing transitions a really good model for it is presented
