Abstract
Continuous-time filters often require a compensation, because some of them are characterized by considerable distortions in the group delay response. However, a process of the group delay compensation always causes an extension of the transient state of the compensated filter. This problem is often omitted in the literature, and hence is the main scope of this work. In this paper, we propose a new theoretical method for shortening the transients in phase-compensated continuous-time filters. Using the compensated low-pass Chebyshev filter, we introduce time-varying parameters to its structure for the purpose of the minimization of the transient state. Results verifying the effectiveness of the proposed approach are presented and compared to the traditional filters.
