Abstract
This paper presents a separated core loss measurement method in which the eddy-current loss coefficients are variable only with frequency and the hysteresis and excess loss coefficients are variable with flux density and frequency. The core loss measurement method has been compared to the Finite Element Analysis Software which has constant core loss coefficients; the results show that the separated core loss measurement formula can be proposed as an accurate method to be integrated into FE software. The application of this model for traction motor design is also discussed.
