Abstract
In this paper, an improved model to predict lamination losses is presented, based on the three-term loss separation formula. Flux density waveforms in the different parts of the motors are obtained from finite element analysis and used to calculate core losses by individually expressing the core loss components in terms of the rate of change of flux density with time, dB/dt in the different sections of the motor. Predictions are compared with measured data from an 11 kW induction motor test bench, Epstein frame and Toroid.
