  • Abstract
The purpose of this paper is the characterization of the control strategy for a new linear switched reluctance machine (LSRM) for electric traction applications. In this work the machine performance is evaluated considering constant speed. Two control philosophies are tested: hysteretic current control and PWM control. Thus, the control of linear switched reluctance drives deals with, at least, three variables, i.e. turn-on and commutation positions, current amplitude or PWM duty cycle. The choice for the best set of control parameters, to develop a specific average force at a constant speed, will be made according to the best balance between efficiency and force ripple.
