Abstract :
VQ(vector quantization) is a new data compression and encode technology which developed from late 1970s, it has been widely applied in the fields of voice encode, voice combination, voice recognition and speaker recognition etc. While during the course of steel water continuous casting, the degree of steel slag detection is a critical factor of steel´s quality. In order to improve the quality of steel, a new method based on the VQ technology has been put forward. Firstly, the detail of steel water continuous casting procedure is investigated, Secondly discover that the density of slag is far less than steel water´s; there is some difference between the vibration signal of steel water and slag because of their different densities. So vibration signal is looked upon the main detecting signal, then extracted some characteristic information by the way of VQ, the status of steel water is detected at last. Experiments under different typical working conditions prove that the validity of this method is more than 95 percent, and it can reach the production level of steel water continuous casting. By the comparison of other methods at present, it has special virtue that realized simply, worked effectively and cost low, which adapt to extend in the correlative fields.
