Abstract :
Exchange of detailed network model data with neighboring utilities is a necessity for effective use of network applications such as state estimator and contingency analysis. Although a detailed node/breaker model is necessary to support these applications, no standard has existed for exchange of such data. Consequently different organizations have developed different methods of exchanging the necessary data. The work of the CIM XML interoperability testing has helped to establish a method for exchange of node/breaker models. The standard continues to be refined, but is already being effectively used in the industry.
