Abstract :
Electron cyclotron heating (ECH) is well established as an effective mechanism for heating tokamak plasmas and is effective for controlling instabilities that can disrupt operation.Calabazas Creek Research, Inc. (CCR) is pursuing two approaches to improve collectors for high average power operation. The first is to increase the strength of the collector surface to withstand the anticipated power cycling. The second is to investigate alternative magnetic field configurations that adequately disperse the collector power without sweeping. The presentation present the results of this research.
