Abstract :
The study presented in this paper deals directly with the issue on knowledge transfer - a subset of knowledge management. The focus is on identifying current practices that help facilitate and manage knowledge sharing. It is part of a broader view on managing external knowledge. External knowledge has become more critical as more companies have outsourced their operations. The study can be considered as a multiple-case study. There are many applications that have been useful for effective transferring knowledge between partners (i.e. manufacturers and suppliers) such as employee relocation and office-space sharing. Problems facing knowledge management from participating companies are also discussed.
