Abstract
A colloid is defined as a system in which a dispersed phase is immersed in a homogeneous one. Here we model a colloidal system as a collection of a large number of identical spheres embedded at random in an otherwise homogeneous matrix. Recently developed effective-medium approach is used for the calculation of electromagnetic response in this model.
