Abstract
The research was an attempt to understand the condition of the insulation system and to classify the data according to its condition. Data mining processes was used to create a model to gain insight into the data and the condition of the insulation system. An analysis was done using self-organizing maps. The model thus created was compared to the expert´s assessment. The patterns in the different features of the model due to ageing were observed and classified. The model correlated well with the expert´s opinion. New data was qualitatively assessed and classified according to the deterioration of the insulation system using the model.
