  • Abstract
High speed induction machines are widely used in many applications due to their good mechanical performance. This paper presents a comparative study on the mechanical and electromagnetic performances for a high speed induction machine with four different rotor structures. The stress, rotor speed, electromagnetic torque and power losses are compared for different rotor structures based on finite element analysis. The simulation results show that the mechanical performance of the solid rotor is superior to those of the solid cage rotor. However, the sequence for the electromagnetic performances is reverse.
