Abstract
The vibrational characteristics of a maglev vehicle using electromagnetic suspension, an active suspension, play an important role in the stability of the vehicle and the construction costs of the guideway. This paper presents a vibration analysis of a maglev vehicle, and is intended for the improvement of running performance and reduction of construction costs. The coupled equations of motion of a vehicle-guideway with 3 DOF are derived. Eigenvalues of the equations of motion are calculated, and a frequency response analysis is also performed for a deeper understanding of the vibrational characteristics of the interaction of the maglev vehicle with the flexible guideway. The results of this vibration analysis could be applied to the design of the urban maglev vehicle under development in Korea.
