  • Abstract
    With increasing of the size of the wind farms and the distance to shore, VSC-HVDC is used as an efficient, economic and reliable solution. This paper aims to study the transient character of VSC-HVDC when the offshore wind farm side and the grid side are fault. First, the construction and the character of VSC-HVDC are described, then the transient model of the offshore wind farm and VSC-HVDC as well as the power system are set up. Lastly, the simulation result of three phases fault and single phase ground fault in wind farm side and grid side received from PSCAD simulation tool are analyzed.
