  • Abstract
The more redundant motor is a class of special motors, which is developed to enhance reliability of motors in some safety critical applications. This paper introduces a novel tri-redundant brushless DC motor (BLDCM), which is equipped with double stators and a cup-rotor. In this paper, key points of design are analyzed. A procedure evolved from direct approach is described in detail to explain how to design this sophisticated motor. By this procedure, a 100 W prototype is designed, and the validity of the procedure is certified In the end, a mathematical model of the double-stator tri-redundant BLDCM is provided for further research in a system.
