Abstract
This paper presents 3D analysis of a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor (PMLSM), where a neodium magnet is used as an excitation magnet. It produces the high power density, and the high thrust more than a self-weight can be attained. In this motor, 3-phase coil arrangement is divided into two rows in transverse direction. A 3D boundary integral equation method is applied to models to calculate the thrust and the lateral force. The characteristics are examined for two motors with different back yoke configurations. One is composed of one back yoke in the primary member and the other type has two back yokes which are set in both sides in a transverse direction.
