Abstract
The residue of the bidimensional empirical mode decomposition (BEMD) is the digital image low frequency trend. A method special for the compression of this large scale bi-dimensional signal has been introduced in this paper. Several concepts was introduced, such as the first IMF, the first residue and the grid characteristic points. Represented by the grid characteristic points, several local mean surfaces were respectively compressed. Thus, the high quality restoration of the first residue surface (image) was got by adding the several reconstructed local mean surfaces together. Experiments prove that this novel method has obvious advantages on the issue of compressing the low frequency information of one digital image compared with the current methods.
