Abstract
Based on wavelet multiresolution analysis theory, medical image are analyzed. Each wavelet coefficient is viewed as an observation and is judged if it belongs to the wavelet transform modulus maximum(WTMM). Then we employ an extended Ostu threshold algorithm to determine the global and multilevel thresholds so as to delete those false modulus maximum points with gray level values of pixels less than or equal to the given threshold. Then the piecewise cubic Hermite curves are interpolated between two adjacent edge points to fashion the edge contours. The experimental results show the effectiveness of this algorithm.
