Abstract
In the present paper role of computer software and soft computing combination is discussed. Mostly operators at graduation level are dealing with old available motors and wiring systems in laboratories. This results into low interest of power operators and narrow focus of traditional power engineering. Each of these new elements in the career paths of our power operators have there on requirement, and it is clear that the focus of power engineering education needs to be broadened considerably to accommodate these needs. The indicated influences on the needs of industry suggest that the curricula in the undergraduate and graduate programs should be thoroughly modernized and brought into line with power engineering needs. Using soft computing techniques will make the forecasting and mitigation of power system blackout learning easy for power operators.
