Data authentication and provenance management

With the proliferation of data on the web, it has become astonishingly easy to locate, modify, and republish data (by republish, we are referring to web publishing and not to paper publications). Hence, in addition to the difficulty in locating the origins of data, it\´s even harder to know the exact details of the "history" of a data item. This information, namely the origins and history of data, is called the provenance information of data. In this paper, we present a model for authenticating data as well as to storing the corresponding provenance information.
