Abstract
this paper presents the integration of the manufacturing upper ontology called manufacturing´s semantics ontology (MASON) for the design of reconfigurable machine tool (rmt) using fbs approach. the fbs approach is introduced and its application for machine tool design is discussed. a concrete proposal MASON with its main classes and object properties is discussed. its application in the domain of production system design is discussed.
