Abstract
A brief overview on the recent development of small UWB antennas is presented. Several compact and small UWB antennas are exemplified to illustrate their respective performance. The working mechanism of UWB monopoles is revealed and it is understood that an adequate UWB antenna should feature a good performance in both the frequency and time domain. In addition, a size reduction on UWB disc antennas can be achieved either by inductive loading or simply halving the original version with even wider impedance bandwidth.
