Abstract
This work presents a technique to reduce the effects of antenna mutual coupling on the signal correlation, efficiency, matching, and radiation patterns of closely space antenna elements. It is demonstrated on an array antenna with two closely spaced dipoles on a circular ground-plane. A compensation and matching network is designed and antenna performance with and without the network is presented. Improved performance is demonstrated over a 100 MHz band at 2 GHz for an antenna element separation of 0.19 wavelengths.
