Abstract
ITU-R Study Group 3 database is used to compare against measurements the diffraction losses as obtained within the Bullington method and proposed ITU-R new Recommendation for path specific propagation prediction model. It has been obtained that the cascaded knife edge approach described in new recommendation overestimates significantly the attenuation by diffraction as compared to the Bullington method, which produces the results with the considerably lower standard deviation.
