Abstract
The aim of the paper is to use the probability formulation of the Synthetic Storm Technique (SST) to assess reliability and concurrency of long term probability distributions of rain rate and rain attenuation available in the ITU-R data base, a preliminary analysis based on single cases. The rain attenuation pdf calculated with the probability formulation of the SST does not need as input rain rate time series, but only the rain rate pdf. Compared to the concurrent rain attenuation distribution its prediction is very good. This SST probability formulation can also "complete" the experimental histogram, i.e., it can add the attenuation values produced by events not recorded.
