Abstract :
This paper deals with the development of two new concepts to enhance the coupling of the feeding probe radiation with the evanescent mode of the EBG antennas. We first propose the design of an EBG resonator without TEM mode. A new transition is then connected between a standard waveguide and the EBG structure to achieve an electromagnetic impedance matching without resonance. This leads to an efficient coupling over a relatively wide frequency band between the waveguide port and the evanescent mode of the EBG antenna.
