Abstract :
In this work the propagation of UWB signals through inhomogenous walls is analyzed in the context of the performance of time based localization algorithms. UWB localization allows for very precise positioning in line of sight scenarios due to the extremely wide occupied bandwidth. However the localization and tracking in non-line-of-sight scenarios is still a difficult task. The aim of this paper is to give an impression of the positioning error of time based positioning algorithms for localization through realistic walls containing structure elements like rebar or pipes.
