  • Abstract
The route diversity concept can be utilized as a unique tool to evaluate the influence of rain on the performance of point-to- multipoint systems working in millimetre wave bands. In this paper, the influence of the area size covered by rain on the efficiency of route diversity applied in systems during the rain event is analyzed for specific areas with a range of dimensions, from small areas up to those with diameters of 150 km times 150 km. The derivation of rain spatial parameter statistics and their validity in terms of the size of the investigated area are discussed.
