Abstract
The world is going through a rapid development of Internet and network-related technologies. The telecom, cable, and multimedia industries are delivering a spectrum of broadband services to the residential customer. These services gives people a residential gateway for entertainment and information resources, like video and music on demand, fast exchange of files, real time interaction, distance learning, tele-shopping and tele-banking, home automation etc. Broadband or high-speed Internet access is provided by a series of technologies that gives users the ability to send and receive data at large volume and high speed. This paper discusses the various broadband access options for high-bandwidth delivery of services to residential customer, along with upgraded networks, advancement and future aspects. This paper also highlights the analyses of availability of services on demand, modem and broadband data rates.
