Abstract
The requirement for an enhanced replacement operational tripping system that would further increase the security and stability of the transmission network for the Southern region was highlighted by national grid. The requirement to de-load the strategically important cross-channel HVDC-Link between England and France was to be implemented using an integrated solution which incorporated and met both high speed stability and mid speed thermal criteria, together with additional functionality over the existing system.
