Abstract
This paper describes a real life loss of synchronism event between two parts of the Peruvian power system - the South-Eastern Region and the National Grid. Analysis of records from digital transient recorders, demonstrates the electrical separation between two regions of the power system and the resynchronization of them after some generation shedding. The paper brings together theory and experience showing the realization of theoretical instability on a real power system.
