Abstract
It is the practical requirement and the future tendency to the use of shunt controlled reactor in place of fixed reactor. This paper introduces magnetically controlled reactor (MCR) in Extra-High Voltage (EHV) transmission line. Firstly, the configuration and essential working principle are presented. Then, mathematics model is derived. Based on the model, the Electromagnetic model is set up for simulating MCR. Three working states of the reactor are also introduced. Afterward, the characteristics of MCR are shown by numerical simulations, and some conclusions have been drawn. Finally, model experiment has been conducted to verify the theoretical result.
