Abstract :
The static synchronous series compensator (SSSC) is one of the recently developed flexible ac transmission system (FACTS) devices. This paper is aimed to present a detailed analysis of the operating characteristics of the SSSC based on a 48-pulse voltage source inverter. To demonstrate the performance of the SSSC inserted in series with the transmission line a single machine infinite bus power system has been considered. The complete digital simulation of the SSSC within the power system is performed in the MATLAB/Simulink environment and the results are presented.
