Abstract :
Flicker caused by electric arc furnaces used in steelmaking usually reflects badly on a large number of customers. The measure equipment such as SVC, STATCOM, etc. is generally used to suppress flicker below the restriction value in power system. If the flicker control performance can be improved by new control scheme, the capacity can be decreased. This paper shows the developed control scheme of a line- commutated SVC for flicker control. The excellent characteristic is achieved by applying the control of a feed-forward scheme and a feedback scheme at the same time. The developed control has the effective extraction method of flicker component by the application of band-pass filter in the d-q rotation reference. The effectiveness is verified by the simulator experiment.
