Abstract :
The initial prototype of a 95 GHz, 2.5 MW continuous-wave (CW) gyrotron oscillator is currently being prepared for factory testing at Communications and Power Industries (CPI). The gyrotron employs the TE22,6 interaction mode in a cylindrical cavity, a diode electron gun, an internal quasi-optical converter, an edge-cooled chemical vapor deposition (CVD) diamond output window, and a single-stage depressed collector fabricated from a strengthened copper alloy. Testing of the system began in June, 2007.
