Abstract
By studying the absolute instability, the gyrotron backward wave oscillation and the electron beam-wave interaction, the stability of amplifier and the suppression of spurious oscillations are discussed. The simulation results of Ka-band TE01 gyrotron traveling wave amplifier are given. The PIC simulation results show that this amplifier can generate 225 kW at 35 GHz with 23% efficiency and 36 dB gain and 8.2 % bandwidth. A coaxial input coupler and Dolph-Chebychev output wave-guide meeting the design requirement are also attained.
