Abstract :
We review commonly used cooled detector technologies along with associated cooling systems and optical components. Our current developments are discussed which we hope will lead to a wider use of sensitive detector technologies and systems in a new generation of IR/THz "field" applications. We look forward to a cryogen-free THz camera with high sensitivity and speed of detection which, with remote control capability would be a powerful diagnostic tool.
