Abstract
With more than 250 computers delivering complex safety critical functions the Class 390 is dependant upon a successful monitoring system. The logistics in efficiently delivering a reliable service require that the onboard condition monitoring systems be extended to provide real time reports to the experts on the ground. Alstom Transport´s West Coast Traincare business has provided an ideal incubation environment to develop off train analysis techniques that have become crucial to the running of the business and are positively contributing to the overall reliability of the west coast railway.
