Abstract
An instrumented pantograph has been developed by DeltaRail Group Limited that essentially exhibits the same aerodynamic characteristics as a standard high speed pantograph, which should assist engineers undertaking current collection tests and condition monitoring the overhead contact system. This has been achieved by miniaturizing electronic systems and housing instrumentation components and cables within the body of the pantograph rather than outside. Tests of the system on the Network Rail New Measurement Train have demonstrated it to operate effectively; the final testing phase is currently being planned.
