A Simulation for Map Transmission in a DMB Environment

Abstract :
The aim of this study was to perform simulations for a map service in a terrestrial DMB (digital multimedia broadcasting) environment and present the results. In order to carry out the simulations, we determined the criteria of map data server structure through tiling and leveling. The file-based map data transmission method and procedures were based on a MOT (multimedia object transfer) channel. Following such criteria we constructed a sample database for the city of Daejeon in Korea tested our method, and then estimated the time required for transmission in a nationwide service.
