Abstract
Design and realization of a directional antenna for EAS systems is presented. Nowadays the coil antennas are used in anti-shoplifting systems. Coil antennas radiate uniformly in all directions perpendicular to the coil axis leading to waste of energy and electromagnetic pollution. The new type of the antenna having directional property and a simple structure is more efficient and environmentally safer. The trial antenna has been designed and measured. The design was based on electromagnetic simulations carried out in 3D electromagnetic simulator QuickWave. The near field of the antenna was optimized. The structure of the antenna enables a simple and cost effective fabrication process.
