Abstract
A first order equation for determination of the strength of the edge overheating (diffraction) effect of foods and similar is developed and verified by modelling and experiment. In turns out that the power density is between 2 and 7 times higher in edges with between 60deg and 120deg edge angle than for a halfspace, for permittivities higher than about 16.
