Abstract :
We present here the design of a novel electro-optic probe and its associated optical bench, providing microwave electric field measurements together with the temperature. The sensor with its fully automated optical bench presents very good spatial and temporal resolutions, almost no invasiveness, a frequency bandwidth from a few kHz up to tens of GHz with a sensitivity of 0.7 V.m-1.Hz-1/2 and a temperature accuracy of 40 mK. This latter characteristic is obtained thanks to a servo-controlled system that has been developed to stabilise the electro-optic response of the sensors and hence to allow reliable electric field measurements under outdoors conditions over long time durations exceeding several tens of minutes.
