Abstract :
In this paper the influence of non-ideal antennas on the quality of UWB imagery is analyzed. The frequency dependent patterns of different antennas are measured and inserted into a simulation model. The obtained raw data are focused using the Kirchhoff migration method and the positions of the simulated scatterers are extracted. Using these data the positioning error, resolution, and coverage of an imaging system are analyzed in connection to the antenna features.
